Tor Malazan Re-read - Chapters 2 and 3

I won't be doing this every single Wednesday that the Re-read runs for, but I'm still so proud and bouncy about my effort that I can't help but mention it! Mine and Bill's analysis of Chapters 2 and 3 of Gardens of the Moon is now up on Tor.com - go and read immediately, if not sooner *grin*

  1. You're doing an awesome job, so far. Keep up the good work!! I, too, am a noob to Malazan and on Chapter 15 of Gardens of the Moon and just really enjoying all of it.

  2. Thanks Joe *blush* You're way ahead of me with GotM - I'm up to chapter seven and really need to do an extended stint at some point to get my head into the series properly.

  3. It does get a lot easier to read, if that helps. I think I was probably confused for close to 8 or 10 chapters just trying to get my mind to immerse itself in the world so that when the narrative/scene changes every so often I wouldn't get confused as to who or what was going on.

So do you think you are in for the long haul with the Malazan series? If so, we can "keep each other company", as it were. I'm not sure what I want to do, after I finish Gardens, because I took a break from Fantasy for awhile and I've missed out on George RR Martin's series, as well as Brandon Sanderson's books. So I'm all giddy to read all these books and feeling like I have no time to read them all.

  4. Being signed on with Tor, as it were, means that I am definitely going to give the full read my best shot. So far I am appreciating (if not completely enjoying) the experience, and I am prepared to listen to those in the know (as yourself) who says it gets more enjoyable as you work your way through!

Join the club in terms of too many books, too little time! If you join my Malazan romp, then I will keep you company with Mr Sanderson. I have a couple of his to read and desperately want to get started :-)

  5. Sounds good. Look forward to the fun :) Should I resurrect my blogging skills to share in the fun? What do you think?

  6. Aww man, I can't make a decision like that for you! :-) Running a blog takes so much effort - it is so damn rewarding, but SO much effort - that you have to commit yourself to it. But it would be good to see another voice in the blogosphere!

  7. No worries. I have been wanting to get something going for awhile but haven't found the proper niche for it. I think, perhaps, this will fit the bill quite nicely. I have a lot of ideas that I think would be good, but they also come with a lot of questions which might be better left for an email, so as not to derail this thread any further.
