Not that I'm asking any reviewer to temper their opinion of a book, just note that negative reviews often do wound authors - because we couldn't write the sort of books we do if we weren't sentient softies at heart.
If you are at the meet on Thurs - don't be put off. It's sad to see though that you are getting negative comments for your honesty. I visit your blog because I know that you always deliver open and honest reviews. There are books that I have written negative reviews about that others have loved and vice versa but at the end of the day a book review is your individual opinion, it's not going to please everyone.Dothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07214328862998740090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8463395374040679379.post-13310438902956709072011-02-01T11:14:59.138+00:002011-02-01T11:14:59.138+00:00Anonymous - that doesn't help anyone make an i...Anonymous - that doesn't help anyone make an informed decision. If people only ever reviewed books they enjoyed, then there wouldn't be a fair balance to help readers choose what to read. After all, if all book reviews were positive, it would suggest that every book ever published was great.

And (unlike some) at least Amanda recognises that her tastes differ from other people's and she links to a gushing review, which is more than most reviewers bother to do.

And perhaps if you didn't enjoy the review you should have stopped reading it halfway through and left it to those of us who enjoy reading this blog... ;-)Leehttp://leeaharris.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8463395374040679379.post-77837622548753374772011-02-01T11:13:33.354+00:002011-02-01T11:13:33.354+00:00@ Milly - thank you for taking the time to come to...@ Milly - thank you for taking the time to come to my blog and comment. I appreciate the clarification.

@ Anonymous - I always finish the books I read. Although you might not believe it, I respect the auhors and the work they have put in and feel I should read the whole book before stating my opinion on such. I cannot abide reviews that state DNF and then make comment on the books. As you'll see from my review library, I have read and enjoyed many chick lit novels. This one didn't appeal, and I set out to try and explain why. I did provide a link to a favourable review so that people who read mine would be able to take on board both opinions. I don't *like* giving negative reviews - but I can't lie about books. And I review every book I read as a personal catalogue and reminder of what I have read. Hence this review. I hope that clarifies matters.Magemandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08986754628836562869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8463395374040679379.post-12582465239968733672011-02-01T11:06:53.196+00:002011-02-01T11:06:53.196+00:00Couldn't disagree more.
